Service Leader Position
Service Leaders will lead those ARCC adventures which include community service as a main component (Service Adventures). While on these trips leaders focus on overseeing the service project logistics, ensuring safe and sound practices, supervising cooking, and facilitating activities and initiatives to improve teamwork and group dynamics. Service Leaders will also oversee all portions of the trip which include all outfitted activities.
Requirements
- Ability to manage the logistics for community service projects in rural areas for groups of up to 15 people.
- Solid expedition behavior.
- International travel experience.
- Proficiency in Spanish for the Costa Rica, Peru and Ecuador/Galapagos Service Adventures.
- Ability to carry a 55 pound backpack through rugged terrain for up to 12 hours per day.
- Competence with backcountry map and compass techniques.
- Familiarity with Leave No Trace techniques for backcountry travel.
- Ability to oversee outfitted activities (but not guide) such as rafting, rock climbing, sea kayaking, mountaineering, etc. Skill in these areas is helpful, but not required.
