Hola from El Cairo!!! We just finished rafting! We headed to the river yesterday morning, had a safety talk from our awesome guides, suited up in life jackets and helmets, and then loaded into boats and floated away! The morning was filled with class 2 and 3 rapids, a quick stop to hike to an awesome waterfall, and a whole lot of fun! At one point, Raft 1 (Chris, Basil, Zach, Raven, Jocelyn, and Robert) started a war with Raft 2 (Eva, Ross, Jack Lechner, Jack Longley, Grayce, Lena, Lexi and Oliver) and an hour of water fights ensued.
Once we got to the lodge we dropped our stuff, switched out our life jackets for harnesses, and hiked up to the zipline! The whole group had an unforgettable time zipping around high above the jungle.
After ziplining, we spent some time relaxing in hammocks next to the river and playing games, and then sat down to another incredible Costa Rican dinner. We were all pretty tired after that, so we headed to bed early and fell asleep listening to the sound of cicadas and frogs off in the distance.
This morning we woke up early, ate some banana pancakes, then hiked to another cool swimming hole. After splashing around for a bit we hiked back to the river, suited up, and started day 2 of rafting! Today we got to go through some more exciting rapids and jump out and swim in a huge canyon! Needless to say, we all left the river feeling very happy.
