It has been a little while since our last blog, but no time has been wasted exploring more of Northern California. After our exciting road trip to Lake Tahoe where we were able to jam out to some amazing music in the car and stop for food at America’s best fast food stop, In-N-Out. We had our first rest day to take in the spectacular sites of Tahoe.
With it’s crystal clear water and sandy beaches, we could not have asked for a better place to unwind. We then had our first service project in the area working on the Tahoe Rim Trail. There we worked together on trail maintenance and creation and learned the hard work that goes into the trails that we often take for granted. We were also working at 10,000 feet! The views were enough to make the hard work and lack of oxygen feel like nothing, and we all left feeling very accomplished. Our last day in Tahoe was another day to catch up on some much needed rest and to relax at the beach in preparation for our full day of white water rafting! Our experience on The American River was quite exciting. We learned the basics of rafting, hit class 2 and 3 rapids, and were able to take our own swimming breaks. Some of us even got to take unexpected swimming breaks when we fell out of the boat! Everyone had a blast and we can’t wait for the next time we can go again. Next is our journey to the iconic Yosemite National Park. This is sure to be absolutely amazing!! Be sure to check back on our blog for more updates!
