Thanksgiving in Thailand

For Thanksgiving this year, we took a break from the elephant sanctuary and spent the day at an orphanage playing with the children. We started the day in Kanchanaburi and explored the famous floating market, filling our boats with souvenirs for friends and family back home.

Then we headed to Moo Ban Dek orphanage and school for two days of service and playing with some pretty cute kids. We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate Thanksgiving (besides home with our loving families of course) than providing a lunch for the school, followed by some quality bonding time with deserving children. I think we will always remember Poy, Joe, Tee and the many other kids that immediately warmed to us, braiding our hair, stole our candy, and spent an evening with us, making us laugh!  That night, we cooked our own meal of salmon cakes, purple sweet potatoes, corn on the cob and green bean casserole!  It was a pretty amazing way to spend the night, watching the sunset over the Kwai River while we ate.
