Alex grew up in Muskegon, Michigan, a lovely little city along the shores of Lake Michigan. She recently completed her Peace Corps service in Paraguay as a Community Economic Development volunteer. Over the past two years in Paraguay, she worked extensively with youth as a mentor, teacher, and soccer coach, among other roles. In addition, she was a program developer for a national civic leadership initiative, Jovenés por Paraguay” (Youth for Paraguay) that promotes community engagement in young people. She adores traveling and backpacking – some of her favorite past trips have been hiking 330km El Camino de Santiago in Spain, hiking to Torres del Paine in Chile, and Machu Picchu in Perú. She loves doing anything outdoors; some of her favorite activities are hiking, snowboarding, snorkeling, and attempting to surf.
