Education: University of California, Davis. B.A. in International Relations with a double focus in Trade and World Development and Global Human Trafficking, and a minor in Biological Sciences.
During college Dana taught English for a month in Bagamoyo, Tanzania and studied politics and international development practice at the University of York, England and traveled extensively in Europe. After graduating, Dana took up a job as a ski and snowboard instructor in Tahoe during the winters, and a whitewater rafting guide in the summers. After a year of adventure Dana moved to Thailand to volunteer and teach English in a children’s home on the border with Burma, to experience the reality of human trafficking and displaced peoples up close. During this time Dana also explored Cambodia, Singapore, Malaysia and China. She returned after five months and spent the four years as a Study Abroad adviser and program coordinator in the Study Abroad Office at UC Davis.
