ARCC Leader Since: 2016
Programs as a Leader: Ecuador/Galapagos, Gap Asia
Esteban grew up with a father in the Navy and spent much of his childhood living internationally and moving around the world in Germany, the Azores, and Japan, before ultimately ending up in Maryland. He served seven years in the United States Marine Corps and had the privilege of attending a number of military schools — notably the Leadership Academies and the Lifesaver’s Courses – that are quite relevant to the programming, curriculum and itinerary of an ARCC Program. In these schools, Esteban honed skills essential to leading successful programs abroad. He was also selected to teach an “Introduction to Leadership Principles” course to our junior enlisted members, mainly 18-21 year olds. Esteban studied economics at the University of Maryland but seem to have found his calling in outdoor and experiential education. Leading ARCC summer and Gap semesters allows him to blend my passion with his career; something few people are able to do.
